Trusting God with Your Tomorrow
The UnPerfected Life Podcast – Episode Recap & Devotional Thoughts
I’ll be honest—spontaneity is not my strong suit. I have lists for my lists. My calendar is planned months in advance. I like knowing what’s coming next. But no matter how organized I am, I can’t guarantee anything about tomorrow.
Maybe you can relate. Uncertainty can push us toward stress, fear, and the temptation to control everything. But here’s the truth: God invites us to trust Him with our future—not just the big milestones, but every part of it.
This week on The UnPerfected Life Podcast, we looked at what it really means to hand tomorrow over to Him, even when we don’t know what’s ahead.
The Anchor Verse: Jeremiah 29:11
Jeremiah, often called the “weeping prophet,” lived through one of Israel’s darkest seasons—exile, destruction, and displacement. In the middle of the heartbreak, God sent this promise:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”
This wasn’t just a feel-good slogan. It was a message to people who felt abandoned and hopeless. Believing it required trust—trust that God’s plan was good even when the present was painful.
Paul’s Example: Trusting When It Hurts
In Acts 20:22–24, Paul says he’s heading to Jerusalem even though the Holy Spirit has warned him that prison and hardships await. Most of us would run the other way. But Paul wasn’t trusting in a perfect plan—he was trusting in a perfect Savior.
Trusting God with tomorrow doesn’t mean the road will be smooth. It means knowing who’s walking it with us.
When Fear Holds Us Back
The Israelites in Numbers 13–14 stood on the edge of the Promised Land but froze in fear. They focused on the “giants” instead of the God who had parted the Red Sea for them.
I’ve done the same. Years ago, my family and I prayed for the perfect home. We found it—but fear made me walk away. Looking back, I see how I trusted my comfort zone more than God’s leading. We eventually found another home, but I know we delayed what He wanted to give us.
God was still faithful, even in my hesitation. And He still invites us to trust Him—again and again.
Practical Ways to Trust God with Tomorrow
- Stay rooted in Scripture
- Matthew 6:34 – Don’t worry about tomorrow.
- Deuteronomy 31:8 – The Lord goes ahead of you.
- Psalm 37:5 – Commit your way to the Lord; He will act.
- 1 Peter 5:7 – Give your cares to God; He cares for you.
- Name your fears, then surrender them
Write them down, say them out loud, and pray over them. - Live today knowing who holds tomorrow
Trust doesn’t mean ignoring worries—it means walking through today with confidence in the One who knows what’s next.
Family Challenge: “Tomorrow, I Would Never…”
Each person says something they think they’d never do tomorrow (“I’d never eat broccoli for breakfast!”), then asks:
“What if God asked me to?”
It’s a fun way to talk about trust, courage, and stepping out of comfort zones.
A Prayer for Your Tomorrow
Heavenly Father, You already see tomorrow. You know what’s coming, and You care for us. We give You our fears—spoken and unspoken. Help us walk today with courage, trusting that You go before us. Bring peace, clarity, and the reminder that we are never alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Encouragement
Your tomorrow may be uncertain—but it’s not unknown. God’s already there.
Hold on to this truth:
“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Let’s trust Him with what’s next.
Remember, God’s Strength is made perfect in your weakness, so boast in it.
