Trusting God with Your Family
The Unperfected Life Podcast – Blog Recap
Let’s be honest, trusting God can feel simple when life is calm. But trusting Him with the people we love the most? That’s a whole different level of faith. In this week’s episode of The UnPerfected Life Podcast, we’re talking about how to trust God with our families: our kids, our parents, and even our future spouses.
When Trust Gets Personal
I’m a mom of two boys—one who’s a natural leader but very shy, and the other who’s more outgoing and a bit of a follower. I worry about them in different ways. Will they be accepted? Will they get hurt? Are they telling me the truth? Will they always need me?
Maybe you’ve had these thoughts too.
These are the raw, real emotions of being a parent. But underneath all of them is the question: Do I trust God more than I trust myself when it comes to my kids?
In Psalm 127:1–2, we’re reminded that “unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” As parents, we can give our all, but ultimately, our kids are in God’s hands. And that’s exactly where they belong.
A Story of Surrender
Family isn’t just about parenting. Maybe for you, trusting God means waiting on a spouse. Or loving a spouse well. Or caring for aging parents. We see that even Jesus, in His final moments on the cross, was thinking about His mom, entrusting her care to John (John 19:26–27). What a tender moment and a reminder that God sees our family needs, even in our most painful seasons.

Weekly Challenge
Write down the names of your family members on a piece of paper. Next to each name, write a prayer. Then offer it all up to God—together.
Hang it on the fridge or tuck it in your Bible as a reminder that you are not alone in caring for your people. God’s got them.
No family is perfect. And none of us have it all figured out. But when we trust God with our families, we begin to live with peace instead of fear.
